WuHu. The singer-songwriter duo featuring Bekah Zachritz on vocals, bass, guitar and violin — and Bob Paltrow on acoustic & electric guitars and keys.
Our music incorporates elements of rock, jazz, pop, folk, blues and gospel with hints of middle-eastern and native influences for a little spicy seasoning.
We create a lot with a little – big minimalism. Our 2-part harmonies have been called “cool,” “different” and “interestingly dark.”
WuHu formed in February of 2015. Bekah Zachritz and Bob Paltrow originally met while performing with the vocal folk group Luminous Skye in the autumn of 2014, in Bellingham, WA.
BEKAH ZACHRITZ originally hails from Macon, Georgia. Her parents moved to Topeka, Kansas when she was a freshman in High School. After graduating with a BA in Music Theatre from Washburn University in Topeka, Bekah performed and toured with Melodie Ayres as a fun comedy pop-folk duo The Smile High Club. In 2012, she moved to Langley, WA to pursue new opportunities in music and Waldorf education, and to raise her now 4-year old son in the beautiful Pacific NW. Currently, she teaches private and group music lessons and works for a Waldorf School on Whidbey Island. Zachritz’s pristine vocals have also been featured with other fine NW artists including Beverly Graham (Seattle), Mr. Feelgood and the Firm Believers (Bellingham) and the all-girl piano/bass/ukelele trio The Three B’s (Bellingham). In addition to performing and songwriting, Bekah is interested in applying her music and people skills to music therapy.
BOB PALTROW moved with his family moved from Massapequa, NY to Tucson AZ at age 15. Classically trained since age 10, Bob went on to study jazz piano with Tucson jazz great Mickey Greco, and then was a piano performance major at the University of Arizona, before diverging completely and earning a BA in studio art and graphic design. Bob is celebrating his 20th year of award-winning graphic design and illustration as Bob Paltrow Design. Paltrow has sat in on piano and keyboards with many Bellingham artists including Scott Greene Band (rock), Pacific High (reggae-country), Sabrina y los Reyes (Latin jazz) and a community Cure Tribute show during the spring of 2014. Bob’s played in a variety of bands and genres including rock, folk, a middle-eastern belly dance troupe, funk, jazz, blues and country, and fronted his own folk-rock group “The Patriots of Tomorrow” from 2002-2009. Bob plays regularly around Bellingham, Whatcom and Skagit counties as singer/songwriter, as well as performing solo piano.
